The Lagos State Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has congratulated veteran sports journalist and football historian, Kunle Solaja, on his remarkable achievement of covering every FIFA World Cup tournament from Italia ’90 in 1990 to the 2026 FIFA World Cup hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
In a statement signed by its Secretary, Comrade Omotunde Bello, Lagos SWAN described the feat as a reflection of more than three decades of dedication, professionalism, consistency, and excellence in sports journalism.
The association’s chairman, Ambassador Olatutu Oladunni, noted that Solaja’s outstanding contributions have not only documented the history of football’s biggest tournament but have also inspired generations of sports journalists in Nigeria and beyond.
Lagos SWAN praised Solaja for setting an exceptional standard of commitment and journalistic excellence, adding that his passion for football and contributions to sports reporting have continued to project Nigeria positively on the global stage.
The association wished the veteran journalist many more years of impactful service and continued success in sports journalism.
