Furthermore, Nigerians must resist the temptation to normalize criminality. Paying ransoms, harboring criminals, buying stolen goods, or providing support networks for criminal groups may offer short-term convenience but ultimately strengthen insecurity. Government, on its part, must earn public trust by ensuring transparency, accountability, and professionalism in security operations. Citizens are more likely to cooperate when they believe their information will be treated responsibly and when justice is applied fairly and without discrimination.

History has shown that no nation can overcome major crises through government action alone.
