The International Chess Federation’s (FIDE) Events Commission released this week the documents they received for the late procedure Call for Bids FIDE World Championships 2025 and 2026.
The organisation received a total of seven bids, three of which were for the 2025 World Cadet U8, U10, and U12 Championships. Kazakhstan, Spain and Türkiye all expressed their desire to host the prestigious event. The events will be hosted using the organisation’s old regulations.
Furthermore, the Chess Federation of Georgia bid for the 2026 World Cup U8, U10, U12 and the 2026 World Chess Championships U8, U10, and U12 and cited Batumi as its possible host city. The country proposed the World Cup to be held in June and the World Championship in November.
Earlier this month, FIDE already announced Batumi as the place where the second edition of the FIDE World Cup for young chess players will take place this June. The competition will be held across three age groups—U8, U10, and U12—in two categories: Open and Girls, with 48 participants in each.
The event will also feature an excursion to Batumi Dolphinarium & Batumi Botanical Garden and a football match between FIDE and the Georgian Chess Federation.
One bid was also received for the 2026 World Youth U7, U9, U11, U13, U15, and U17 Championships. Brazil offered to host the event in Foz do Iguaçu in late October. This competition must be organised according to FIDE’s new regulations.
Serbia is also the lone bid for the 2026 World Cadet and Youth Rapid and Blitz Championships, as well as the 2026 World Senior Championships. The country proposed to host the event in April at the Hotel Zepter Congress Center in Vrnjačka Banja.
