The Nigeria Police have declared Mr Adekola Boluwaji Nifemi, one of the editorial staff members of Khai Reports, wanted for failing to honour an invitation to interrogate on issues bothering his reports, threatening national security.
A press statement issued by the management of Khai Reports and signed by the Editor, Mr. Femi Akinola, reveales how the police in Lagos has written one of the reporters, Mr Adekola Boluwaji Nifemi, inviting him to come to the Lagos Police Command Headquarters in Ikeja for an interrogation on or before 25th July 2025, and failure for him to honour this invitation, they (Police) will declare him wanted.
‘We were so surprised to receive the letter dated 21st July 2025, we thought it was a joke, not until Saturday, 26th July 2025, a team of Policemen from the Command came to our Lagos office in the Agege area of the state to ask about the whereabouts of Mr Adekola.
“The action of the police is unfair to us in the media community in the country. They want to gag and deprive us of the freedom guaranteed in the Constitution of Nigeria.
This government has been so critical of media reports, even when evil pervades society.
“”The police are after our reporter for doing his legitimate job.
The plan is to stop him from doing his job, which I believe is not possible,” said Mr. Akinola
“The letter from the police reads: “The Office of the Commissioner of Police, Lagos Command, has been inundated with several complaints from other sister security agencies and from some politicians in the country that you have been using the privileges of your profession to publish articles deliberately offensive and critical to their operations and their daily lives.
“You are hereby invited to the Office of the Commissioner of Police on or before 25 July 2025 for questioning and interrogation.
“You are strongly advised to honour this invitation because failure to do so, legal action will be taken against you, and you will be summarily declared wanted.
“I want Nigerian to know that Mr Adekola was picked up on 10th October 2024, he was detained for a few days before the management rallied round to bail him. I am sure this time around, the police have a big thing to do against him,” he said.
Meanwhile, it gathered that the police stormed the family house of Mr Adekola in Owode, Ede, Osun State, at 1 Oke Alafia Street, Owode Clinic, Owode Ede, Osun State. The police demanded that the wife tell them where her husband is hiding.
“The wife of Mr Adekola reported the incident to us. According to the wife, Adekola Janet Shabi, the experience was frightening to her and the children, Adekola Oluwatetisimi Oluwashindara.
“This is not too good in a country practising democracy. We call on the Nigerian public to call the Police to other. Mr Adekola is doing his legitimate work for the society,” Akinola said.
